The Meal Is Over—Did You Say Alhamdulillah?
The meal ends, the table is cleared, and your phone is already in your hand. You enjoyed the blessing, but gratitude never reached your lips. Praising God after food or drink needs no long formula; a sincere “Alhamdulillah”—“all praise belongs to God”—is enough.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that God is pleased with a servant who praises Him after eating or drinking. (Sahih Muslim: 2734a) After your next meal or drink, pause before moving on and say “Alhamdulillah”—with awareness, not on autopilot.
Should You Force the Mouth Open?
When someone starts convulsing at home, one person reaches for a spoon and another offers water. Stop both. Put nothing in the mouth—not fingers, a spoon, cloth, water or medicine—and give no food or drink until full recovery.
Move the person only if danger is nearby. Cushion the head, time the seizure, and turn them onto their side after the convulsions stop. Call local emergency services if it is a first seizure, lasts over five minutes, repeats before consciousness returns, or causes breathing difficulty or serious injury.
